Coffee With Jesus

Family, Faith, Food and Fun

Lord, my heart is overflowing with joy today. Thank you for all your blessings! It was such a wonderful, full weekend filled with family joy! There is nothing more wonderful for a Grandmother than to have all of her children and grandchildren near. It is such an almost overwhelming joy! Tom did well with the disruption to his routine.

Friday night we had dinner at John and Kasey’s house. Noah, Monica and Max arrived there early in the afternoon and then took Ashlyn and Morgan out to celebrate their birthdays with them. We played the game we gave to Ashlyn for her birthday earlier this month, POETRY FOR NEANDERTHALS. It was hilarious fun! Julie, Matt, Maddie and Hannah arrived at their hotel late evening.

Saturday we went to lunch with Julie’s family at the hotel, and then all the younger kids swam in the afternoon. It was so much fun to watch them all splash and swim in the pool! Hannah is a little fish in the water! Max has no fear of the water! I loved seeing Morgan smile with all the freedom of movement she had in the water! Ashlyn stayed home from swimming. We gathered at John and Kasey’s for dinner. Great food, and lots of laughter. John wasn’t able to join us, he had to go to work at his second job for the evening. The 3 younger girls had a blast together, and loved the dragon eggs with the dragons inside that we gave them in gift bags. We went home fairly early. Even so it was a short night.

We all met at church for the 9:00 service. It was a lovely service. The kids enjoyed the children’s message and the palm crosses that they took home. Max did so well during the service! We took pictures of the kids after church and then we met a bit later at the Delta Hotel for brunch. It was a veritable feast!! Tom and I were home shortly after noon. By the time Noah’s and Julie’s families drove out of town to return to St Paul, Tom and I were in pajamas for the rest of the day! Julie called 3 hours later. They’d forgotten Hannah’s pillow at the hotel. I assured Hannah I would get her pillow. She is so sweet! Today is Maddie’s birthday, I sent her presents and Hannah’s presents home with them. Julie told me that Maddie opened one of her presents because it was making noise in the car. She loved the interactive toy chameleon I got for her. I knew it was quirky enough to draw her interest. Maddie is on the Autism Spectrum so it’s hard to find gifts that I know she will really enjoy.

This afternoon after lunch we drove to the hotel to retrieve Hannah’s pillow. I actually drove to the wrong hotel and the desk clerk thought I was crazy when they couldn’t find the name in the registry, or a pillow in their lost and found. I had a total brain fart going to the Delta where we had lunch yesterday instead of Element where they had actually stayed. I felt like an idiot but laughed at myself. I think it was just exhaustion, hopefully not a sign of cognitive decline! I’ll have to pay attention and if there are other incidents I’ll get myself to  a neurologist pronto! We mailed the pillow from a mailing service close to home and came back and took a good nap. We had a simple supper tonight. And now after watching some TV I’m going to bed to listen to my audiobook, THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah. I’m enjoying it. It is set in the mid to late 1960’s during the Viet Nam War. The main character is a young nurse who joined the Army and served in a field hospital. It’s very absorbing.

Thank you Lord for all the blessings that I received today. You are so so good to me! I love you, Goodnight!
